Privacy Notice for CIC Website
This Privacy Notice (“Notice”) sets out the basis which Camford International College (“CIC”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) may collect, use, disclose or otherwise process personal data of our customers in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act (“PDPA”). This Notice applies to personal data in our possession or under our control through the CIC website, especially personal data in the possession of organisations which we have engaged to collect, use, disclose or process personal data for our purposes.
Terminology
“Personal data” means data, whether true or not, about a customer who can be identified: (a) from that data; or (b) from that data and other information to which we have or are likely to have access. This includes name, email address, telephone number, country of residence, bank information, and Cookie ID.
Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Personal Data
In the CIC website, we generally do not collect your personal data unless it is provided to us voluntarily by you directly. We may collect, use and/or disclose your personal data for any or all of the following purposes:
- performing obligations in the course of or in connection with our provision of the goods and/or services requested by you;
- verifying your identity;
- responding to, handling, and processing queries, requests, applications, complaints, and feedback from you;
- conducting market research and analysis which can help us to understand the target audience better and improve marketing strategies and offerings;
- managing your relationship with us;
- performing student-related tasks such as student enrollment and other academic activities;
- processing payment or credit transactions;
- utilizing Cookie IDs and other website tracking tools to enhance user experience, analyze website traffic, and improve website functionality and content;
- complying with any applicable laws, regulations, codes of practice, guidelines, or rules, or to assist in law enforcement and investigations conducted by any governmental and/or regulatory authority;
- any other purposes for which you have provided the information; and
- disclosing to approved unaffiliated third parties including our third party service providers and agents, and relevant governmental and/or regulatory authorities, whether in Singapore or abroad, for the aforementioned purposes.
In relying on the legitimate interests exception of the PDPA, Camford International College will assess the likely adverse effects on the individual and determine that the legitimate interests outweigh any adverse effect, before making such collection, use or disclosure.
However, should you wish to withdraw consent and request us to stop collecting, using and/or disclosing your personal data for any or all of the purposes listed above, you may submit your written request via email to our Data Protection Officer (DPO) at the contact details provided within this Notice. In general, we shall seek to process your request within seven (7) business days of receiving it, unless otherwise stated. CIC will explain the consequence(s) of consent withdrawal upon receiving such a request. The request will not affect our right of collection, use and disclosure if such collection, use and disclosure without consent is permitted or required under applicable laws.
Cookie ID Settings
For the purpose of this Notice, a cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies are used to “remember” you and your preferences in a web page. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
When a user visits the CIC website, a pop-up message containing all types of cookies will appear. There are three cookie settings in CIC Website, which are Required, Analytics & Performance and Advertising. The purpose of these cookies are:
- Required: important for the functionality of our websites and services, enabling essential operations and necessary features to be carried out, for example, website language preference (English or Mandarin), and performing account-related functions.
- Analytics & Performance: gather data on user interactions with our websites, such as the most visited pages, along with other analytical information. This information is utilized to enhance website functionality and gain insights into user interaction patterns.
- Advertising: aim to deliver relevant content and assess its effectiveness. The online activities data are gathered to anticipate your preferences and present you with more fitting advertisements. This enables personalized ads to be shown to you based on your profile.
Every web browser provides the choice to reject cookies, and if you opt out of accepting our cookies, no data will be gathered. If you want to disable any cookies related to these technologies, you can adjust your browser settings accordingly. Nevertheless, it’s important to be aware that disabling this function may result in reduced functionality on our website, although you can still access it.
Access and Correction
You may send us access or correction requests which we hold about you through the CIC website, by submitting your written request via email to our DPO at the contact details provided below. In general, our response will be within fourteen (14) business days. Please note that a reasonable fee may be charged for an access request. Nevertheless, with the exceptions in PDPA, we are not required to provide access or correction service on your personal data.
Care of Personal Data
CIC exercises obligations to take care of personal data collected via CIC website, by:
- making reasonable efforts to ensure the personal data is accurate and complete;
- performing reasonable administrative, physical and technical measures to prevent unauthorised access. You should be aware, however, that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While security cannot be guaranteed, we strive to protect the security of your information and are constantly reviewing and enhancing our information security measures;
- ceasing to retain your personal data, or remove the means by which the data can be associated with you, as soon as it is reasonable to assume that such retention no longer serves the purpose for which the personal data was collected, and is no longer necessary for legal or business purposes; and
- informing students of procedures for transferring personal data outside Singapore with appropriate consent and protection measures, which are of comparable to PDPA requirements.
Data Breach Notification
In the event of a significant data breach, we will make reasonable efforts to notify affected individuals if we believe that there is a reasonable risk of harm to the user as a result of the breach or if notice is otherwise required by law or regulatory body.

EFFECT OF NOTICE AND CHANGES TO NOTICE
This Notice applies in conjunction with any other notices, contractual clauses and consent clauses that apply in relation to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal data by us. We may revise this Notice from time to time without any prior notice. You may determine if any such revision has taken place by referring to the date on which this Notice was last updated. Your continued use of our services constitutes your acknowledgement and acceptance of such changes.
